Bio: When Robbie was growing up, he spent countless hours year-round
cruising the neighborhood with friends on my beloved 50 pound Nishiki. His first
race was on that bike as a 10 year old, where he took 2nd in the grueling 5-mile
Tour de Brentwood (NH). Robbie also raced in the debut of the Mud In Your Eye
500 mountain bike race, and made regular annual appearances there, never bothering
to remove the rack from the trusty Nishiki. Robbie bought his first road bike
and started racing on the same high school team where Tyler Hamilton got his start,
Holderness School, as an alternative to lacrosse, and raced from sophomore to
senior years. He loved it from the start, probably because he was spanking all
the "C" riders, and handily won every race his first year. Robbie moved up to
the "A's" and after two years of being named "Most Improved", he capped high school
cycling with a Coaches award. Moving onward to Colorado College, Robbie slowly
began to take racing more seriously, and ventured out to his first USCF races.
Robbie's sophomore year, his first with a coach, he placed 5th in the NCCA D2
Omnium, and achieved All-American status. As a junior, he won the NCCA road race
on the Mad River course, and in his senior year, he took the National Criterium
and Omnium titles, with All-American standing each year. Robbie graduated with
a double major in biology and cycling.
